My Morning With God: John 3:16

John 3:16 resonates deeply with me, Catherine Pickett, a mother and nurse, because it embodies the profound love and sacrifice that mirrors the essence of caregiving, both as a parent and a healer. The verse says, *"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."* This is more than words; it’s a promise of hope and redemption.

As a mother, I know what it means to give selflessly. The thought of giving up my child for the sake of others is unimaginable, yet God did just that. His love wasn’t passive—it was an act of ultimate sacrifice. This challenges me to reflect on how I show love in my daily life. Do I love others enough to put their needs before my own? Do I forgive as freely as I’ve been forgiven?

As a nurse, I’ve seen life at its most fragile. I’ve held hands during final breaths and witnessed the miracle of healing. John 3:16 reminds me that eternal life isn’t just about what happens after death—it’s about the quality of life we live now. Jesus came to give us abundant life, full of purpose and peace, even amid suffering.

This verse also speaks to my faith journey. It tells me that salvation isn’t earned by deeds but through belief in Jesus. It’s humbling to know that no matter how many lives I touch as a nurse or sacrifices I make as a mother, my worth comes from God’s grace alone.

John 3:16 is personal—it’s for me as much as it is for you. It’s a call to trust in God’s love, to live with gratitude, and to share this hope with others. Whether comforting a patient or guiding my family, this verse reminds me that love is the greatest gift we can give—and receive.

Dear heavenly father, we come before you this morning, with a grateful heart thanking you for all you’ve given for us. I am requesting that you create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me daily. I ask that you allow the Holy Spirit to dwell within me throughout my day, so that I can interact with all of your people with the love of Christ. I thank you for the good time this morning and ask that you give me the mindset to seek you daily in Jesus name we pray amen.
