My Morning with God-John 14:12

John 14:12 is a powerful verse where Jesus speaks to his disciples, promising them that they will do even greater works than he did.

In John 14:12, Jesus makes a stunning declaration to his disciples, one that echoes through the ages and resonates deeply within our hearts today: "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do because I am going to the Father."

Imagine the disciples' amazement as they heard these words from the lips of their beloved Master. They had witnessed firsthand the miracles Jesus performed—the blind received sight, the lame walked, the dead were raised to life. Yet here was Jesus, assuring them that their journey with him was only the beginning, that greater works lay ahead for those who believed.

But what could be greater than what Jesus himself had accomplished? How could mere mortals like us surpass the miracles wrought by the Son of God?

Jesus wasn't speaking of greater works in terms of spectacle or grandeur, but in terms of scope and reach. He was laying the foundation for a global movement of love, compassion, and redemption that would extend far beyond the borders of Israel and span the ages to come.

The greater works Jesus spoke of are not confined to the extraordinary, but encompass the everyday acts of faithfulness, kindness, and service that transforms lives and bring glory to God. They are the prayers whispered in the silence of the night, the hands extended in generosity, the words spoken in love and truth.

As followers of Christ, we are called to walk in his footsteps, to embody his love in a broken and hurting world. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to continue the work that Jesus began—to heal the sick, to comfort the brokenhearted, to proclaim the good news of salvation to all who will listen.

But perhaps the greatest work of all is the work of transformation—the miracle of a heart turned toward God, of a life redeemed and restored. In each act of obedience, in each moment of surrender, we participate in the unfolding of God's kingdom here on earth.

May we embrace the promise of John 14:12 with humble hearts and unwavering faith, knowing that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead resides within us. May we step boldly into the callings God has placed on our lives, trusting that he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).

Let us go forth, then, as bearers of light and hope, knowing that through us, God's love will be made known and his kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven.

Let us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, we so love and adore you. The great love you have shown us and continues to shower on us is so amazing.
